WELCOME TO LOOGOOTEE ELEMENTARY

Staff

Loogootee Elementary School students are taught by over 26 certified instructors that genuinely care for the well-being and education of their students.

STEM Certified

LES was classified as a STEM Certified School by the Indiana Department of Education in 2021.  LES prioritizes the teaching of science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines and exemplify a highly non-traditional approach to education by employing a great deal of inquiry, project-based learning, community engagement, entrepreneurship, student-centered classrooms, and out-of-school STEM activities.

Lion's Den Preschool

Loogootee Elementary offers a robust Pre-K program to students ages 4-5. This program provides opportunities for socialization, hands-on, and multisensory activities, as well as a math and reading curriculum that allow for a smooth transition to Kindergarten.

PLTW

LES offers four different PLTW modules each school year at each grade level. The modules include content from computer science, biomedical, and engineering fields. Research demonstrates that PLTW students outperform their peers in school, are better prepared for post-secondary studies, and are more likely to consider careers as scientists, technology experts, engineers, mathematicians, healthcare providers, and researchers compared to their non-PLTW peers. LES was named a 2022-23 School of Distinction by PLTW.

PAWS Daycare

LES offers a before, during, and after school daycare option for working families that provides a safe and structured environment. Preschool students have the ability to attend PAWS Daycare and go to preschool without having to find transportation from one to the other.

PBL

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a model and framework of teaching and learning where students acquire content knowledge and skills in order to answer a driving question based on an authentic challenge, need, problem or concern. All teachers at LCSC have been certified in PBL by Magnify Learning experts and implement strategies throughout their curriculum yearly to allow students to work collaboratively with their peers, using a variety of employability skills such as critical thinking, communication, and creativity.
